RESTO REVIEW : KIYADON SUSHI

As you guys know, I’m very fond of Japanese food. Few days ago, I had dinner with my boyfriend at Kiyadon Sushi, Central Park Mall. Well, it’s my second time I ate there. Of course like all the Japanese restaurants, it offers many varieties of Japanese foods, like Sushi, Sashimi, Udon, Miso soup, etc. I ordered Maki Sushi (Sushi Roll), Salmon Belly Miso Soup, and Chuka Lidako (baby octopus).

For Maki Sushi, I ordered Tuna Maki Sushi (I love tuna~ ), Salmon Maki Sushi. The taste it’s nothing different with other sushi restaurants, so it’s kinda so so. I only ate 3 pieces sushi, and already got enough.

The Salmon Belly Soup is kinda good. I mean I don't really like miso soup, but the salmon made it more bearable for me. It has salmon & the belly, vegetables, enoki mushrooms, and tofu with miso soup. I like the tofu too, it’s really soft~ i never found the tofu as smooth as it is.

And the Chuka Lidako.. IT’S MY FAVORITE! It’s baby octopus served with some kind of red seasoning. Don’t worry if you don’t like spicy food, it’s not spicy at all, the red seasoning is only to make it more attractive! The taste it’s really really oishiiii~ I mean, it’s not the first time I ate Chuka Lidako, I’ve eaten it in Sushi Tei (Sushi resto), but Kiyadon’s Chuka Lidako is the best among the two. It’s so chewy chewy chewy ~ I love it so much I could eat it forever.. Hahaha! :P

The food might not be the best, but I have to say that Kiyadon Sushi’s interior and concept is one of the best of all Japanese restaurants I’ve been visiting so far. The entrance is just great!! It’s like you about to enter a cave. It filled with many plants inside, make it feels like eating in your backyard garden. There are two sections of tables, one is the dining area, and the other one is the sushi bar area. And we chose the bar area, it’s near the window with so we can see the Tribeca Park, it sure really beautiful. It also has many lamps (or lanterns?) decorated the bar area (not too light and not too dim, just perfect), it makes the ambiance much more beautiful. The sushi bar designed like mini ships, so it’s moving as the water beneath it flowing.

Kiydon Sushi is highly recommended for Japanese restaurant. So if you like Japanese food, I suggest you to come visit it. As I say, the food might be not the best (but still, it's good), but the ambiance is just great! Makes you wanna stay in longer.And it’s kinda romantic.. LOL

Overall, I give Kiyadon Sushi 8.5 out of 10 !!

PS: There was blackout when we’re having dinner at Kiyadon (total blackout in the entire mall), it took more than 15 minutes for the light to finally work again. At that time, the waiter gave us a candle on our table. And we pretend that it was actually candle light dinner during the blackout!! Stupid but it was so much fun !! 

MOVIE REVIEW : TOTAL RECALL (2012)

Total Recall (2012) is actually a remake movie of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Total Recall in 1990. Basically both have the same story line, still about Douglas Quaid/Carl Houser, an ordinary construction labor from The Colony that works for United Federation of Britain (UFB). But this 2012 version has no plot of the journey to Mars (too bad.. I love that part), as the previous version has. It focused on the political overtones.


I love the new version managing the visual effects, even if it less than what I’d been expecting before. But nevertheless it seems ten fold better than the 1990’s one. They keep the Colony’s environment as it is, as well as the UFB, really reflecting what the future is supposed to be.


As for the casts..


Well… I love Colin Farrell, so I have to say that this movie is more enjoyable to watch rather than watch Arnold portrayed Doug/Carl !! What I like the most is Colin’s clueless expression, he looks so clueless and dumb but at the same time he really can hide his charm. He played the action scenes so well, it’s not that great, but it’s ok I think.


Kate Beckinsale as Lori (Doug’s fake wife) is quite fierce! Her eager face upon catching Doug makes her look like some kind of a well-trained secret agent that found her husband cheating on her and wish to give him a very painful payoff.. hahaha! I’m kinda curious, whether Lori really hates Doug or the opposite, she loves him. Can’t quite figure it out since the line between love and hate is so thin.


Jessica Biel as Melina seems fairly fit her. I’ve seen Jessica Biel in several action movies, and sure she’s an action babe. Her character as Melina, it’s not that special to me, she’s just happened to be a member of the Resistance and Doug’s love interest. Well, in my opinion I like Doug with Lori better. Melina is nice and so on, but I love to see Doug-Lori’s love-hate relationship! LOL


The conflict of the movie seems a major one, the Resistances from The Colony against UFB. But I just didn’t feel the heat, it’s quite plain. Sorry to say, but the individual conflict of Doug and Lori looks more entertaining for me.. (Yay! Doug and Lori!!)


The most breathtaking scene is when the elevator that connected The Colony and UFB went down! I mean common, it’s not an ordinary elevator, it goes through the core of the earth, for haven’s sake!! And the most SHOCKING scene is when the THREE-BREASTED woman appear!! i was just "WHAT THE F**K!!"


Oh, one more thing. I totally adore the Robots! They look so realistic, eventho’ they kinda looks like robots that made by Japanese (Honda). But they sure are really cool (wish that I could have one, I’ll make it work as my maid.. lol)!!


Some people call this movie as an unnecessary remake, but I have to say that: what’s wrong in bringing the old sci-fic movie to the whole new level with better visual effects and sounds?! This sure is enjoyable for me, and I hope to you guys feel the same too after watch the movie.


And finally, I give Total Recall (2012) 7 out of 10 !!

PS: I saw The Borne Legacy’s trailer, and it’s not Matt Damon who play Jason Bourne!! Instead it’s a guy from The Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol! Can you guess who is he?

RESTO REVIEW : RAMEN 38

Today I went to a Ramen shop called Ramen 38 (Sanpachi) with my friends. Well it's not my first time eat ramen at 38, but I noticed that the shop design a little bit changed. They put red lanterns on the shop cieling, it's quite cool, making the shop looks more oriental than before. But then again, the Red theme of the shop seems a bit too much. I mean they put anything in red, like tables, chairs, walls, the menu books, the waitress' uniforms, and now plus the Red lanterns. Sure it looks more oriental, but too much red made me feel like moving out from the shop ASAP! LOL

As for the ramen, i ordered Jigoku Ramen level 3 (Hell Ramen?). It had 10 levels of hotness/spiciness that you can choose. Level 1 is for the least hot/spicy ramen and level 10 for the most spicy one. For the taste, it was so so, but since i like spicy and hot food i gave 1+ for the ramen.

In scale of 1-10, i give this Ramen 38 shop 6.5!

PS : There was a French couple sitting on the next table. Hell, they talked in fast French and all that i could understand is "oui" means "yes".. LOL

MOVIE REVIEW : THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

What can i say? I really love the latest Batman movie » The Dark Knight Rises. Somehow it gave me warm feeling inside. Hahaha..

Love the story overall. The villian : Bane was so scary! I mean he got a big figure for a man and his mask kinda made me intimidated. But what i love the most is Bruce Wayne's conflit with his own self. I could see that Bruce cares & loves about the Gotham city a lot. What would happen if a hero doesnt even believe in his self? That's what i got from the movie. Thx god, Bruce got his confidence back and Batman is back! As in for the villian, Bane, he's really showed me how the true bad man looks like! But aside from that, Bane is a very loving man. What makes this movie even more interesting is the Catwoman. She's really cunning & smart! Not to mention she looks so hot & pretty.The visual effects is great! I was so amazed when the football field went down. I was just like "Holy Cow!!". That's really awesome! Eventho' the movie doesnt have the 3D version, but i still amazed in how awesome the visual effects is. It would be more awesome if it's 3D.

As for the actors and the actresses, for me Christian Bale is the best actor to play Batman/Bruce Wayne. He's really into it! Tom Hardy as Bane, is total a success! Eventho' we'll never see what his face look like, Tom Hardy acted through his voice & gastures. Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, she portrayed it like no else did before. Compared to Hally Berry's Catwoman, i prefer Anne Hathaway's. And finally, i give The Dark Knight Rises 9 out of 10 !! Watch it yourself to experience such a cool movie. Happy watching!

FYI : There are an actror & an actress in The Dark Knight Rises who also had roles in Leonardo DiCaprio's Inception! Can u gess who they are?? :)

Printed VS Handwritten

Some times before the exam began, I was waiting outside the class when my friend asked me something:

My Friend       : “Hey, may I see your paper?”

Me                   : “Sure, here….” (Handed her my paper)

My Friend       : “Umm… is it? Really?”

Me                   : “Yeah…..”

My Friend       : “Are you sure it required to be printed?”

Me                   : “I’m sorry….?”

My Friend       : “You should do it in handwritten.”

Me                   : “WHAAATTT???!!!”

And I was just like WTF!!!

For everybody who wants to know I did the paper on the last minutes term. I’d been doing it from almost 10 hours, and I tried on my very best attempt, and finally at 3.45 am, I was done doing it. So, I got up at 8.00 am in the morning and prepared to go to school for that day’s exam. And suddenly… scene above happened. I was beyond surprise, because I didn’t remember the lecturer say to do it in the handwritten way, because most of the lecturers in my school want the printed one. So, I thought that this Mr. Lecturer wants the same thing too... To my surprise he actually has different idea about doing paper. Then my friend told me to rewrite it, and I said “HELL NO!! You know what? I just slept for only 4 hours… don’t you see that my face it’s actually looks likes s**t? No way in hell I’ll rewrite it!”

So when the exam is about to begun and we put our papers in front of the class I put my paper in the middle of others. LOL… Yeah, I know it’s a little bit tricky! But that was the only thing I could think of. And I can’t imagine Mr. Lecturer face when he found my printed paper in the whole handwritten ones!! He must be like “What the hell is wrong with this kid??!”  Hohoho!!

The irony is why we have to do it in handwritten when there is technology called printer??!! It’s more effective and efficient, isn’t it? So why the hell he asked us to write the assignment off! That’s so ridiculous!!

So, I have a thing to keep in mind when it comes to do papers. ASK YOUR FRIEND WHEN THE ONLY THING YOU ACTUALLY DO DURING CLASS IS SLEEP OR DAYDREAMING!! LOL…
